Gaoqiao is a town in China. It is located in the county Kaixian, 337 kilometres north-easterly of the municipality Chongqing East of the southern province Sichuan.
On 23 December, 2003 a gas well burst at 10 p.m. and released highly toxic hydrogen sulfide. According to China Daily, 233 people died and at least 9,000 were injured.
